Why do only older guys wear Akubra where Im from?

I noticed apart from station hands and tourists only elderly guys seem to dress up in Akubra and R.M Williams where most younger guys wear baggy clothes and baseball caps. Where’s their sense of Aussie pride? esp. since the stock man style is an Aussie look and the BB cap is an Amercian style. I see a lot of tourists in the style but that’s their idea of looking Aussie which I have more respect for but they make local younger guys look less Australian. Whats the deal here???
Im from Alice Springs where the area is cattleland. I proudly wear the style and people ask me where my horse is.

Akubras and R.M.Williams are kind of expensive , down here in my little town of 450 people on the Vic coast no body wears Akubras or R.M.Williams , I was wanting to get some R.M.Williams boots for myself but when I checked the price I changed my mind and bought Blundstones instead , all the tradesmen and guys like that around here wear Blundstones . It is often really windy here at the coast and baseball hats are less easily blown away. Nevertheless I often look fondly at Akubras in a shop window and maybe one day will get one , but for sure the guys will all tease me if I do.
